Montage Health 2018 ACHIEVEMENTS
❙ Montage Health received a $105.8 million gift to create Ohana, a groundbreaking approach to mental healthcare for young people
❙ Ohana director, Dr. Susan Swick, hired after national search
❙ Collaborative formed to reduce diabetes throughout Monterey County, led by Montage Health and Salinas Valley Memorial Healthcare System
❙ Montage Medical Group opened a 60,000-square-foot office in Ryan Ranch, bringing the total number of doctors recruited to 49
❙ Recruitment packages provided to 16 new Montage Medical Group doctors
❙ Community Hospital’s inpatient diabetes care earned advanced recertification from the Joint Commission, the leading hospital accreditation organization
❙ Community Hospital earned advanced recertification from the Joint Commission for stroke treatment and care
❙ Community Hospital earned advanced recertification from the Joint Commission for inpatient palliative care
❙ Montage Health’s mobile clinic expanded to six weekly sites to provide healthcare to those experiencing homelessness and others who are underserved
❙ Aspire Health Plan turned 5 and earned 4 stars from Medicare for its care and service
❙ Community Hospital’s Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit celebrated its 5th anniversary and was named in honor of neurosurgeon William R. Lewis, MD
❙ Montage Health Foundation raised $13.4 million to support Montage Health programs and awarded more than $6 million in grants
❙ Prescribe Safe was instrumental in lowering the county death rate from opioid overdoses to the third lowest in the state. It also placed drug-disposal bins throughout Monterey County and provided training and medication to first responders to reverse opioid overdoses
❙ Community Hospital received an ‘A’ rating for patient safety from the Leapfrog Group, a healthcare rating organization
❙ Montage Health acquired a new apartment complex in Monterey to provide housing to assist in recruitment of doctors and clinicians in hard-to-fill positions
❙ Community Hospital’s Tyler Heart Institute launched its structural heart program, with new procedures including transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR) without open-heart surgery and began implanting leadless pacemakers
❙ Epic, a sophisticated electronic health record, was implemented throughout Montage Health, to deliver more seamless, comprehensive care and
share it with other providers
❙ MyChart patient portal launched, giving patients easy, secure access to their personal health information
❙ Community Hospital again earned elite 5-star overall rating from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services
