2018 Highlight
In Monterey County, an estimated 12 percent of residents (about 28,000 people) have diabetes and
another 45 percent (105,000 people) are estimated to have prediabetes, and many do not know they have it.
To reduce these alarming numbers and improve the community’s health, the directors of Community Health Innovations (CHI) approved the 2019 diabetes collaborative strategic plan. It provides prevention and
education, screening, referrals, and other resources.
The Diabetes Collaborative is working to join forces with industry partners to have real and lasting impact
on the lives of Monterey County residents.
